Vanity and Eli — the proposal

“If ever two were one, then surely we — choosing each other on this day, and every one after.”

The long way around

Our Story

How we met

A mutual friend invited them both to the same Christmas party. As we'd only learn later, we each left thinking the exact same thing: I could never just walk up to them. So we didn't. We each went back to that friend, separately, and asked about the other. She never gave much away. She simply told each of us, quietly, that we should reach out. So we did.

The proposal

A year after dating, on January 15th, 2026, Eli insisted Vanity book a mani-pedi (he wanted a pedicure, if we're honest). Then they hiked up a mountain, where Eli produced a single golden rose; an anniversary gift, and a very good distraction. While Vanity admired it, Eli got down on one knee. He says he has never been more sure of anything. They're marrying on that same date, one year on.

Why a dinner

They built this day the way they strive to build everything: on purpose, together. Eli wanted to be surrounded by the people who he feels have truly shown up for them. Vanity's happiest memories are of family gathered around a shared meal. So that's the whole plan: They'll marry, then we'll eat, talk, and take pictures late into the evening. No formal dancing, no rush. Just the people we love and a very long dinner.
